This is not park assist, rather when in reverse there is a button to turn on auto park. I can't seem to figure out what it actually does. Any one able to tell me or point to a YouTube video?

I've included pics to this thread

It will engage the parking brake automatically when parked. It doesn't seem to persist between starts thought unfortunately, I wish it did as I use my parking brake every time I park the truck. I think the idea is to have a system that sets it for you when you park and have a trailer in case you forget to set it at your destination.

I do the same using my E Brake every time, to save wear and tear on my transmission.

It seemed a lot of things don't persist between starts. Driving Mode, Auto Start Stop, Now Auto E Brake.

Ford really shat the bed with this in my opinion. As soon as my truck is out of warranty I'm going to install those adapters that remember driving mode and auto start stop.

Sad we have to do this in 2021

Driving mode probably has to reset for EPA/MPG/CAFE concerns.

Auto Stop probably the same thing.

Though I see no reason not to have a persistent parking brake automation

I'm curious what forscan can do about this? I know next to nothing but that it exists.

I don't know the capabilities of forscan however I could probably fix that by searching the threads here

Seems like that should be a menu item rather than 'always on'. Allow the driver to enable/disable the feature once and done (and change their mind as desired).

I don't have that model year -but is this a situation that when in reverse, the option will always be displayed asking driver if they wish to disable auto park?
I always use my parking brake so I personally would not see see it has a problem. Even growing up in Michigan I used it all the time and never had problems. I may just be a lucky one though. If there was a good reason to not have the parking brake engaged I'd probably like to be able to easily disable it.

if I understand you correctly, no auto park is disabled upon every start of the vehicle.

I'm with you, I wish you could turn it on until you decide to turn it off.

The other guy in this thread is likely correct that most of these things that don't persist starts are due to government regulations regarding fuel economy
Why auto park doesn't remember your choice and stay on is also a mystery to me

Ahh, so it is give you the opportunity TO make the brake automatically engage? You have a unique complaint, you're supposed to want to disable Ford thing, not make them be on all the time. You're acting like a rookie.
I guess I'd be okay with that option, having to push the button. But after a week it would get old.

Anything in the manual about enabling/disabling aside from "touch the touch screen control to enable auto brake"

"How Does Automatic Return to Park (P) Work
Your vehicle shifts into park (P) when your vehicle is stationary and any of the following occur:
• You switch the vehicle off.
• You open the driver door with your seatbelt unlatched.
• You unlatch the driver seatbelt when the driver door is open.

Note: Do not use automatic return to park (P) when your vehicle is moving, except in an emergency. See Starting and Stopping the Engine (page 209). Automatic Return to Park (P) Limitations Automatic return to park may not work if the door ajar switch is malfunctioning.

See an authorized dealer if any of the following occur:
• Door ajar indicator does not illuminate with the driver door open.
• Door ajar indicator illuminates with the driver door closed.
• Transmission not in park message appears with the driver door closed, after you shift out of park (P)."

I'm 99.9 percent sure I don't have automatically return to park. I've tried it and it never works and I don't see a section to enable it
