Default What do new model year trucks come out? (order/deliver)?

Just curious if its typical for next model year trucks to be available for order before the end of the current calendar year and/or if they ever (normal year or supply chain mess year like 2022)?

Considering purchase of a truck at the end of this year, would ideally take delivery before 12/31...but might be able to work with an early 2023 delivery date...just curious if a 2023 model year might be an option?

I’m sure someone here can find the exact date, but ordering for the next model year typically starts in September/October and the next model year build dates begin 6-12 weeks after order banks open.

Of course with the current state of affairs, that may not be exactly the case.

if you need a truck by year end, I’d order in June and cross your fingers you get it by then.

Current projections are that this mess will continue into middle of next year, at the least, so Scrappy's suggestion is probably the best you can do unless you want to get a pretty basic truck. XLs and lower XLTs seem to be taking only 3-4 months, order to delivery.

Thanks. Not the answer I was hoping for but probably what I expected.

I am looking at a limited but hoping the 2023s have better wheels or tweak something small to make it more visually appealing to me. Maybe I will wait until the 2023s are annoucned and if there is nothing amazing worth waiting for I will just pick up a lightly used 2022.

In a normal year, you can start ordering the new model in June'ish, and they start showing up on dealer lots in Sept'ish. This year will not be normal though, so I would bet orders for 23's dont start until Sept'ish and they dont start hitting dealer lots until early 23. This is all just my speculation though. For sure Ford will delay in giving out dates for anything revolving around 23 orders compared to a "normal" year.

I bet it’s the middle of 2024. Guys like me that ordered in march will be lucky to get a truck in October. That alone pretty much puts us into 2023. That means there will still be a backlog even then. It will basically be only ordered trucks being delivered. By then people want a new truck. Heck I am a year beyond when I normally trade my truck. What I am saying is pent up demand isn’t going away
