Default Two questions

I recently bought a new 2025 F150 XL work truck and am still learning about it's features and functions. So, I have two questions, one just curiosity, the other is combined with a complaint.

First, I really do like the "HOLD/PARK" feature that is activated by the brake pedal, especially in heavy stop and go traffic. My question is, when you use the brakes and come to a stop, and then put enough pressure on the brake pedal to engage this system, is it using the standard service brakes, or just the parking brake.

The second subject, and rant, is the ignition key. I am 76 years old and have had many vehicles thru the years, most with an actual key in lieu of the more ubiquitous keyfob/remotes in more recent years. The actual metal key for my F150 is very narrow, not as flat and wide as all others I have used. And this makes it difficult to line up and insert into the switch. I have to apply a little pressure while adjusting the angle, at the same time giving it a little left/right twisting, until it finally slides in. I find this design annoying. First, am I the only one with this opinion? And secondly, is there any aftermarket switch and key unit which will replace the factory one in mechanical installation, and electrical connections? I realize that if so, this new key would not work in the locks, but to me that would not be a problem. I use the remote for locking and unlocking, not the key. And to just have one conventionally shaped key in my pocket for the ignition switch would be much preferred.

Any thoughts on any of the above?

First question,

It uses the service brakes

Second question,

No there is not, ford has used that style key for the past 10 + years

Thanks for the prompt reply. I will just have to use more WD40 and patience.

I think with practice you will get used to it. I found the location of the seat belt latch to be different than my last F150 and was annoying, but now I have no issue with it.

Hang in there. You'll get used to the key. I jumped from a 1995 F-150 to a 2021 so I can relate to your questions and complaints. The key is actually pretty sturdy and the key slot will loosen up a bit making it easier to insert. Enjoy the new truck.

Are you putting WD40 in the ignition? I wouldn't do that at all on these newer trucks. Dry lock lube.
