Trying to be Proactive
My 2023 has been great so far & issue free so naturally I’d like to keep it that way. My last 2 trucks (Chevys) needed transmissions replaced right around 100,000 miles which was the reason I crossed over to the Ford Truck World. I called the Ford dealer and they quoted me $600.00 for a Trans Fluid & Filter Change. I’m aware it’s not the typical trans drain / drop pan job but $600 seems a bit high IMO. Should I be looking to have it done elsewhere ?????
My warranty covers up to 100,000 miles and I’m at 40,500 with no trailering. Should I even be concerned ????

The old days when all a mechanic had to do is get the atf drain old and refill are gone.
Todays vehicles fluid is more expensive plus you need a computer to reset stuff like this. Even brake fluid changes require a computer.
$600 is the going rate.

Find a transmission shop that will do a pan drop, new filter, and refill. It will be a lot cheaper. Then continue with this service every 50k miles.
You can buy a pan with a drain plug for around $70. Have them put it on when you have the service done. Makes it much easier if you decide to DIY in the future.

I went back to the one I had tagged and it was no longer available. Here is a listing for one for $50. I would look around at listings to find a high rated seller who has sold a lot of the pans. This was just a similar listing; it wasn't vetted.

I just had my local dealer perform a transmission fluid change, not the full filter and pan drop service, and they charged $238.00. For me, this was good for peace of mind at 31,000-miles I do a fair bit of small camper towing and it was a fair trade off until I get to the recommended service intervals. Just my .02-worth.
