I am new to Ford and my new F-150 was a dream truck for the many years I was pushing around Toyotas. Now that I am in a Ford, I have a lot of questions and apologize for having threads up on different topics throughout the forums. This one is about the truck bed itself.
There seem to be attachment points on the sidewalls. Almost like an e-trac in a moving van. What are these for?
What are the flat spots on the wheel wells for? Do the dimensions (50 inches wide) mean between the wheel wells or total interior side wall to interior side wall distance? Asking to see if a 4X8 sheet of plywood would lay flat between the wheel wells (yes, I know it would extend off the tailgate of my 5.5 bed). I know there are now tie downs on the sides of the lowered tailgate for longer materials to be strapped. Is there still a place to put a 1X12 into grooves to act as a partition in the last 1 or 1.5 feet of the bed? Are the lower corner tie downs any weaker or stronger than the higher mounted ones?
I have the 3 prong outlet in the truck bed (and front and rear interior cab). Do I just plug whatever I want to use there (cordless drill battery charger, Mrs. EDJ's hairdryer/curling iron/etc. into them and use while truck is running?
Thanks

Boxlink plates go on the sidewalls. They are attachment points but can also hold aftermarket accessories. There are 50 inches on the floor between the wheel wells to fit a 4x sheet. The overall width of the inside of the bed is more of course. There are dimensions listed in the owners manual I believe. For any other dimensions you may be interested in whip out your tape measure and give it a whirl.
You have the V8, no, your three-prong outlet only goes up to 400 watts. Hairdryer.. ehhh, not really, since it goes over 500 watts easily. You can charge cordless stuff or even e-bikes.
From wheel well to wheel well, it is slightly above 50 inches wide so, yes, a 4 x 8 sheet will fit (if it's 50 inches wide).
He might have a 2KW set up, but I doubt it. Its 400W peak and much less continuous. Its proved plenty capable of charging my wife's laptop all day long......... But remember you have three outlets, the wattage is shared between the three outlets.
