Default Trim Levels

I find it odd that the Limited trim level is the highest for the F150, above both King Ranch and Platinum; yet for both the Explorer and Expedition the Platinum and King Ranch trim levels are higher than the Limited. I know it really doesn't matter, but it just seems like an odd inconsistency. Does anyone know Ford's logic for this?

All I can say is years ago the Limited was produced in limited quantities. I don't think that's the case any longer.

All I know is that Ford should have included the "folding work surface" ($165) that opens over the shifter with the top trim levels as it appears buyers get home with their top dog truck and discover no one at dealership thought to order that option and seem a bit pi$$ed after spending $75-80K. It's coming on my loaded Lariat powerboost for sure! (someday anyway....maybe July delivery

Just took delivery today of a heavily optioned '21 Platinum. Found interesting that using the Ford configurator to arrive at very nearly equivalent trucks, between the King Ranch, Platinum & Limited, showed pretty darn conclusively that the best value is in the Platinum. Looks like the Limited is marked up roughly $4K just for the badge. Mine was special ordered by someone else, then, according to the dealer, that customer backed out due to how long the wait had become. Build date at Dearborn was in Mar., delivered to the dealership about a week ago. Got lucky... Well, yeah, lucky + I was watching the dealer inventories like a hawk.
