Default Trailer light check issue

So I went and bought a trailer for the pontoon. Hooked it up with the 4 pin adapter at the dealer and did the trailer light check through the fordpass app. The tail lights turned on on the truck but not the trailer. The turn and stop lights worked as expected. I noticed that just the tail lights were on on the truck, not the rest of the lights, so I turned the headlight switch to running lights and the trailer lights turned on.

Is this a symptom of anything I should be wary of?

I had to use an old 7 pin to 4 pin adapter I had because the one supplied with the new 2021 XLT Sport seemed to be a cheap POS and would not reliable make contact.

It is working as designed. If the switch is on auto, while checking, it won’t turn on parking lights on the trailer.

Well, that sort of negates the purpose of the trailer light check as the truck puts itself in auto by default. But I am glad it is not just my truck with an issue.

I bought a 7 pin connector and replaced the 4 pin connector on my boat trailer. No more needing to use the adapter . I just did the trailer light check a couple of days ago. All I had to do is turn the truck on...didn't start it. Trailer light check worked flawlessly and my light switch was in auto.
