I tried mine when I got it back in the fall and I don't think the trailer brakes did anything. I'm only pulling a 3000# camper so wasn't too worried, but good to know, thanks

Yeah, I switched up my oil change appointment so that I can get this sorted out before get our trailer out of storage and tow it next month. Along with the other recall (underbody insulation) hopefully.

I've experienced this problem while towing often. I would address it with the module re-program before you tow. Its not fun to lose trailer brakes.

Is this only for factory installed? or does it also cover those installed after purchase?

If its a Ford Integrated Break controller, I would have it checked for a software update. If it was installed later, your VIN probably wont display a recall alert for it as it was not an as built item. But the Module was probably manufactured in the past year which may make it vulnerable to the problem the programming fixes.

Does anyone know if the software patch is available yet?

The patch is available as is the transmission patch, both of which I get to do next month. If I do tow between now and then its going to be a Uhaul which has surge brakes.
