Default Tpms 21 stx

I am ordering aftermarket wheels and tires for my STX. They will come with the valve stem TPMS. Do these automatically sync up to the truck when I put the wheels on or do I need to have something to get them to read? thanks in advance.

This is a different set of sensors then what came on the truck? Hopefully they are the correct frequency, if they are then they will need to be learned to the truck.

There is a tool that "wakes up" the sensors and while the truck is in learn mode they will interface. Your local dealer should be able to get it done, probably even a tire shop could do it.

See page 511-512 of Owner's Manual. I'm installing aftermarket wheels and new tires tomorrow and I'm going to follow that reset procedure. I'll see if that works and report back.

So here’s how it went on my lariat...

reset procedure initiated but never worked.

got 5 miles down the road and I’m watching tpms screen. All of a sudden, it switches from old pressure to new. It was easy for me to tell cause I went from 37 to 45psi in my new size.

so I didn’t have to do anything. Sensors learned themselves. Hope it’s easy for you as well.

If you're hauling your old wheels in the back, inflate new set to a different psi by about 5. That way you can tell when it switches.
