Default towing capacity

I have a 2023 platinum 4x4, 5.5 bed, 3.5 EcoBoost, 3.55 rear, max tow package and cannot find on any chart the exact tow capacity of my truck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a link to enter your VIN and it will show you the capacity of your truck.

Just read the sticker on your drivers door jam. It tells you right there. No guess work, no database etc etc. That's what the cops will look at if they ever question what you are towing, and what the insurance company will use if there's an accident.

The door jamb sticker tells you GVWR. Where does it give the tow capacity? Mind doesn't state it.

I'll tell you a few "secrets" I've learned towing thousands of miles with Fords, including a PB F150. Your payload will matter well before whatever your max tow rating is, in almost all cases. Most F150s are rated to tow at least 10,000 lbs, and if you've ever tried that, you'll probably quickly discover that going over 8,000 is something for rare and short trips at best. Even F150s rated to tow 13,100 lbs will likely only be able to do that legally with a driver and an empty bed because again, they'll run out of payload first. You can pretty easily back into your max (practical) towable weight using whatever payload you have remaining when you're fully loaded to tow - passengers and cargo in your bed. Then whatever payload (GVWR minus curb weight) you have left can be at most 10-15% of your total towable weight. That should get you situated in almost all cases, totally ignoring the tow rating from Ford.

It doesn't that's why I posted the link to Ford Service. There is a sticker that will tell you the max payload but not towing capacity. There is another sticker on the hitch that will tell you max tongue weight and max trailer weight but that's maximum for the hitch and will likely exceed the rating of the truck.

As other have stated you will most likely run out of payload well before max trailer weight.

And it tells you payload and that is the most important.

After you have what ever you are towing hit the CAT scales and find out what you really got. Good to know where you are at.

Good luck...

From the online ford trailer towing guide, my PowerBoost is limited to 7,000 lbs tow capacity, presumably because it didn't come with a trailer brake controller. That infers 7,000 lbs is the max trailer weight with surge brakes (which obviously don't need a controller). Where does 7,000 lbs limit come from? I don't see anything online stating that (e.g. federal or state law).

And I assume if I got an aftermarket controller my towing capacity would automatically become 11,000 lbs per the Ford guide (12,100 with a max trailer tow package). I don't see anything else in the 53A tow package that would affect tow capacity besides the controller. Thoughts?

Look on page 3 of the 2023 Towing guide and for F150 size.
Read all the notes under the listing for each engine above.
From the notes you can see why a specific answer cannot be offered here.
There are a lot of technical reasons the weight limit can be different for any individual case.
Be a where most RV dealers cannot tell you, either with any absolute accrracy..
God luck.
