Default Tonneau for Pro Access Tailgate

I hate that my current 4-fold tonneau cover recommends closing the tailgate before closing the cover. With the PAT, this would be even more annoying. So, which covers tolerate being fully closed when closing the tailgate? Anything that would cause them to conflict with the swing-out door of the PAT?

Obviously, not any real field experience with the Ford PAT. Anyone with lessons learned from a Ridgeline or other novel tailgates?

My preference would be to use a hard-rolling cover next, like Bak X4s or Gator HR1. If they don't play well with the PAT, then I have to move on to something else..

I have the

RetraxPRO XR Retractable Truck Bed Tonneau Cover | T-80378

and it works independently of the tailgate.

edit: I have a 2023 Powerboost

Check with whatever online retailer you choose (nobody has one of these yet), but I don't see why the Lomax covers wouldn't work, they lock in front of the tailgate when closed and seal off the opening, I think it would work regardless of how the tailgate opens.

I have the Retrax on my old truck and I'm not sure I'll buy it again. It takes up a lot of space.

It does take up valuable space, but I like everything else about it.

I used to have to lower spec bakflip on my 2018 that required that you close the tailgate first, I grew to hate it. Now, however, I think even their cheapest cover now includes the rear seal setup that allows you to open/close the tailgate while the cover is closed.

I tried to not add too many constraints for this reason. Not playing well with the new tailgate would be a deal-breaker. For many other details, I might be able to compromise or just deal with it. On rare occasions, I really do need all of the space.

Willing to bet that companies haven't clued into any PAT differences and will initially sell anything until the "it doesn't fit" or "it leaks" complaints start.

That is one of my concerns - paying to be their guinea pig. My easiest move may be to search product reviews for "ridgeline", so I am only seeing feedback from folks with dual-action tailgates.
