I have a WT trim F-150, it's the base model so it doesn't have much fancy stuff, one of those being a nice tailgate. It's got a basic tailgate with a backup camera and I'd like to install a better one, but I'm not aware of all the compatible gates out there. I know there's a power gate which sounds nice and I know there's one with a fold out handle and step stool (I'm just not sure if that's for the 2021 f-150) but if there's a better option than the base tailgate I'd like to put that on and if you could point me to where I can find one that'd be cool

 

Even if you put the power tailgate on it wouldnt work "just like that".
Without knowing specifics, I would say the truck is probably not wired for it. I believe the trucks with power tailgates have a button for that which you dont have. There are probably other components involved.

I have added a lot to my base XL. I wanted to get a tailgate with the step. But a power tailgate isnt even a consideration. Add the tailgate damper. That makes it much nicer to open as it wont slam down.

 

The power tailgate comes with a switch on the door panel and on the key fob. It came with my truck but not an item I would selectively pay for. I use my tailgate multiple times a day and it's too slow to be useful for me. Same with the step. Save yourself the expense - put some bold graphics on there and be just as happy.

 

Tailgate with the step is about the only upgrade available 21-24 XL - XLT. That being said my brother is having camera integration issues in his tailgate. He needed a new camera purchased the correct Ford camera for his vehicle and it is giving him fits.

If the need came about to upgrade to a step type tailgate 21- 24 would wrap it in a close color the trim the F150 letters out for a unique look.
