tailgate release

My 2023 F150 XLT has the electronic tailgate release. yesterday after picking the truck form the dealer, I hit the button on the dash 2x holding it for a couple of seconds and nothing happens. I tried the key fob and the samething, nothing happens and tried the button on the tailgate handle still no luck. Today I checked all the fuses in the panel under the hood and made sure there were pushed in good. Also looked to make sure everything is plugged in by the tailgate assembley. I also checked what I believe was the 10amp tailgate lock fuse and it wasn't blown. Later that day I pushed the button 2x on the dash and the tailgate opened. I then closed and reopened it a couple times using the button on the tailgate. After that we are back to the same problem, tailgate is not unlocking and opening. Anyone have this issue before or any suggestions on things to try before I go back to the dealer on Tuesday?

Are you parked nose down?

no I am not. I have tried to push the button on the tailgate itself and pull the tailgate at the same time.

In the extreme recent cold, mine would unlock, but not drop down. A light tug on it and it came down.

go through the infotainment screen, ensure that power tailgate is turned on, if i recall there is an option for it there.

I guess you’re in for a surprise.

That has nothing to do with the tailgate.

that’s just a “cover” requiring removal using the ignition key.

aw heck. Just watch the video….

that is exactly how my 2015 f150 was. My 2023 does not have a lock assembly installed. That is what I think is missing. Wasn't sure if maybe Ford quit putting a lock on the 2023s

I went to the information screen on the dash. It doesn't have a tailgate mode selection like I have seen on youtube videos. My tailgate does not auto up/down I think it is just electronic lock.

Since the steps you took checking fuses, etc. seemed to fix it temporarily, I'd go back to your fuse box and push really hard on those fuses to make sure they are all fully seated. 90% of mine were not fully seated when I picked up my truck from the dealer.
