Does anybody else get this message at random times?
The truck will be fine for a day or two or even a week then out of the blue I get this message after turning it off.
When it happens the truck will not see the key as I approach or turn on any lights, including the dome lights. Start/Stop hasn't worked for months.
The truck starts and runs fine, even with the app.
I took it to the dealer for this issue back in November and of course they couldn't re-create the issue, they said they tested the battery and it looked fine.
My truck is a 2021 with 21,000 miles.
You will find a TON of threads about this. The really short version is that you do not drive the truck enough to maintain the battery charge. Why? That's where the "discussions" start.
Ford has put too many electronics into the truck for what the charging system can handle.
Ford engineers don't know how to design a proper charging system.
Ford has purchased a bad batch of batteries, and they rapidly fail, but the dealers don't want to replace them.
I'm sure I'm leaving some out ...
What can you do?
Drive farther distances regularly.
Purchase a battery charger. I'm a fan of trickle chargers, regardless of this issue, and I believe that they will extend the life of the battery. I do this on generators, motorcycles, and my trucks.
Tweak charge settings via ForSCAN.
Purchase a high-quality aftermarket battery in place of the OEM battery.
Again, I'm sure that I'm leaving things out ...
I just replaced the battery in my 2021 because it was already testing "replace", I didn't have any issues with my truck yet, but I also don't want to wait for a problem. When I replaced the factory 48 AGM battery, I installed the optional 94R AGM as an upgrade. I also bought a new battery insulator for the 94R battery, part number KL3Z-10A687-B. If you're having issues and don't already have one of the larger 94R AGM or 49 AGM batteries, it might be worth it to install one.
Have the exact same issue. The dealership and this forum tell me I'm driving it wrong. Apparently I'm supposed to make sure I live far enough away from work that I'm driving it 30 minutes at a time. This is something Ford decided was the way normal people exist in the world, and that the rest of us who only have to drive 10 minutes to work, who haven't had a single issue with any of their previous vehicles, are living their lives wrong and shouldn't own Fords.
I'm going to take a picture every time it happens for 2 weeks and confront the dealer.
Waste of time. If the battery tests good, it tests good.

Perfect answer. Hits all the issues - infrequent use, not long enough drives, trickle charger. Not a new issue, my 2013 does this. A Battery Tender solves them all. My 2013 battery lasted 8 years, once I put a Battery Tender on it in 2014, after the Service Manager at my dealership said to either drive the truck or buy one. Never saw the message again until 2022 when the battery was about to die.

Waste of money, it will eventually do the same thing.
