Sync 4 audio questions
After an over 5 month wait I finally got my 21 STX. Unfortunately sync 4 doesn’t recognize my iPod classic. You can say I’m old school when it comes to listening to music. I mostly listen to CDs and this is only the 2nd vehicle I’ve had that doesn’t have a tape or CD player or aux input. First one being a 20 STX that I had less than 6 months before getting totaled but my iPod worked with the sync 3. Ideally I’d like it if they still put cd changers in cars.
I tried putting songs from my iTunes library on a usb drive but it appears the files don’t have artist or album information on them so sync 4 can’t index them. So what are people using to digitize their music so sync 4 will be able to index the songs by artist and album? I read some place that sync 4 is able to play FLAC files, possibly at high bit rates. Is this true? The easiest solution is for me to buy an iPod touch but if I’m able to play a superior format than WAV files on iTunes, I’d rather do that. Eventually I’m going to get a music streamer for my home stereo so it would be nice whatever music software library I use can cross over to that.
Second question I have is I have the 101A equipment group and on fords website it says it comes with the B and O system with a subwoofer but I don’t have a subwoofer behind the back seat or anything that indicates it’s a B and O system. It doesn’t sound bad but it definitely doesn’t have a sub woofer. Should I ask the dealer about this?

I think your subwoofer is on top of the dash in the middle.
Hey mclime.
I previously have done what you suggested with no positive results.. I too have all of my music ripped to MP3 files and Itunes grabs them from that folder. I put my music onto a USB drive (all MP3's). The truck will indeed play them, but no indexing. I can't search for artist, album, etc. And then when I'm driving, there is no searching available as the search area is grayed out.
Have you had success with this method?

I’d like to figure out what music library software to get that will format the files correctly so sync can index them. I already had to import my CDs 2x so I’m holding off on doing it again until I get a NAS and music streamer.

Trust me: just get a used, unlocked iPhone 7 from eBay (under $100) and connect it via CarPlay. Problem solved. You can use the phone without a mobile plan via Wifi for lots of stuff. Make a great nav device, music player, etc...

mclime, My files have all of the correct information, artist, album name, song name.
If I'm stopped, I can hit browse, then search for what I want (different artist or album or whatever). Once I'm moving, the search button is grayed out. Does your truck let you change artists while you are driving? I can see all of the songs on the individual album, and change from one song to another while I'm driving. It will not let me find a different artist or album until I stop.
I'm leaning towards Ricks idea about a used iphone. I don't know anything about carplay, but I will figure it out.
