New to this forum. I was driving our 2021 F150 3.5L truck when it suddenly braked and stopped. I wasn't doing more than 10-15 mph. I checked to make sure the parking brake wasn't accidentally on. I started driving again and didn't get over maybe 10-12mph and it did the same thing. I tried it in manual and same thing happened. Called the tow truck to take it to the dealer. The tow driver said ours was the 3rd truck he'd towed in the last month exhibiting the same "symptoms". The truck has been at the dealership for 3 weeks now, and we've not got a definitive answer as to what the actual problem is. Initially we were told its a pre-collision assist sensor malfunction, and they replaced "something" then did a software update, but that didn't fix it. The dealership service guy said "we've involved Ford engineers and should know soon what the fix is"! Oh great, how long will that take? On my FordPass there are several notifications that show up "rear wheel speed sensor fault", "anti lock brake fault"... Has anyone else on this Forum had this issue? We had a trip planned with our travel trailer, but have a sinking feeling we will have to cancel.
TIA
Gene & Tom
Yeah haven't heard of this either. The truck is never quiet about anything so it's odd you didn't indicate that it was yelling at you when coming to a stop about fault messages or whatever aside from what FordPass is saying. But not clear if you are seeing those messages while it's at the dealer, which wouldn't be unusual, or it was saying that the same day you had issues.
Either way hope they get it sorted. Definitely not something I have seen come up on this site though and there are a lot of 21/22 owners here, so I question that the tow driver saw the same issue that many times. I so often hear of tow drivers saying stuff like that I am starting to think they say it for any tow they do that isn't a crash. "Oh yeah the truck developed sentience and started using your credit card to buy itself accessories? Third one of those I have seen this week".
LOL It didn't yell at me when it was happening, and I didn't see anything on my screens at the time. I rechecked the FordPass notifications and the time stamp on them shows it was when it was at the dealership (on the same day it happened).
One plus of the Fordpass is that you get an idea if the truck moves by the miles and where its parked. That tells you its being worked on rather than parked forgotten at the back of the shop.
I'm ignoring the tow truck operator. No evidence to prove it happened or involved F150s.
If its an electrical issue, One thing they could do or have done is run a wire from the "defective side to the good side. If the fault followed, that would indicate faulty wiring not sensor. . Then test the wire at each connection for faults.
If you want to send me your VIN I can pull up the truck on OASIS and see if it had any active codes and get an idea on if the dealer has done anything.
