Seems like an easy and inexpensive solution would be a bungee cord from the tailgate tie down point on each side of the tailgate (you know, the bottle openers) to the safety chain "loops" on the hitch receiver. I keep a couple of bungee straps in my truck all the time for "just in case".

You could get a half sheet of plywood, put the sheet in with half on the tailgate and the other half in the bed held down by whatever you're hauling. It should keep enough pressure on the tailgate to keep it from flopping around and would offer some additional protection in the bed.

Default This worked for me

The bounce was driving me nuts. Found these online from ride88.com. Called tailgate boss. Were like 31 bucks each.

That gate king stuff looks awesome, I just can’t see myself using them all the time to justify the cost. I really wish I could though!

Check out the ride88.com tailgate boss. Just got two, and at 31 bucks each was a good solution for me.

The tailgate boss looks like a good solution. Do you think it requires two on an F150? Thinking one should be sufficient to secure it in the full down position. If you are using it to hold the tailgate at say a 45° angle, then two might be needed.

You probably could get away with just one. I opted for two of them to be on the safe side.
the video on their website looks like the guy just out one on. Maybe I went for overkill.

The thing is I don’t really need them. I think the gate king is nifty and really innovative!
