car audio is like car performance .. if you have owned a 200 hp car all your life.. the talks of a 600 hp car sounds silly .. but once you drive a 600 hp car.. you suddenly want 1000 hp

my wrong turn was my cousins 1990 Hampshire Green Metallic Honda Accord EX Coupe .. with Phoenix Gold Equalizers and Amps .. i forget the speakers and sub .. but it was dialed in so perfectly .. i could hear tweeters.. i could hear voices.. i could hear bass and they were all detailed and separated and i was in such awe i couldn't believe i could hear so much frequencies .. i was blown away .. from then on i was ruined

so i would say if you don't want to go down that road.. enjoy the stock systems .. because now when i buy cars i pick the base system because i know even the top system won't be good enough for me

performance wise i was ruined by my cousin in the UK's heavily modified first gen WRX which was not available in the US

That's awesome. I'd love to hear that actually just to see the differences.

Anyone have experience with headrest speakers? I assume it is a small both left and right in each headrest, as just one speaker would seem silly? I'm guessing the first time I get to actually play with it may be when my order shows up on the lot.

when you get into the geek aspect of car audio .. you get an RTA microphone and use a product such as Room EQ Wizard to dial in the volume of each speaker delay .. so your right speakers will be louder than your left .. your rear right even louder and so forth and then you think of delay so they are all sending the same music at the same time.. the idea is that you're sitting center and both your ears are hearing ever everything perfectly .. I would assume headrest speakers would have to be extremely low or so they don't over power all the other speakers and at that point they would be useless

There are speakers in the headliner too, in case nobody noticed.

Oh I sure noticed. I circled blue where the headliner speakers are, and I circled red what I think are stereo speakers in each headrest.

I am coming from a standard system in my 2017 XLT but it came with a factory installed kicker sub (very rare! it was the only XLT on dealer lots in NoCal I ever saw with one while shopping around and clicking on window stickers). I absolutely LOVE the system in it and I never loved a stock system before. I put an aftermarket deck, speakers and sub in my daughter's Ranger recently, and went through a TON of tuning and playing various sine waves and test sounds to balance all the crossovers, filters, and eq's. For fun I tried it in my F150 XLT and it was already really well balanced and only got muddy down around 45Hz and below (maybe the sub is only 8")

So anyone with experience in the standard audio vs B&O and can you comment on how much of an upgrade it is? The standard B&O is apparently 8 speakers while the (new for 2021) B&O Unleashed is apparently 18 speakers (though I read that they count 2-way speakers as 2 speakers in that count?). On the interior trim vids of the KR and Platinums, you can see speakers and tweeters mounted in the ceiling, but not one has posted a video discussing how it sounds. Maybe it is just a "don't care" for most F150 owners, and we're just a bunch of talk radio and podcast junkies

Current B&O is 10 speakers, not 8.

Not that it matters much but I don't know what is going on in that blurry slide in the training video as I can't read the smaller text. It says in the slide 8 in the standard and 18 in the unleashed, but if you count the dots there are 8 on the left and 16 on the right. Its like they are giving credit for some 2-way speakers on the right but not on the left? I don't know. Some previous thing I read (don't remember where) said they count 2-way speakers as 2 speakers so maybe that's how they got 10 before on the 2020 or they dropped to 8 for 2021 in order to upsell the unleashed.
