Squirrel vs Powerboost
"Your auto insurance will cover rodent damage if you have comprehensive coverage. This is an optional insurance coverage that pays for damage to your car not related to a collision. Rodent damage falls under comprehensive coverage."
This is one reason I highly recommend a low deductible on your comprehensive insurance, It covers vandalism, hail damage, theft, garage fire, glass breakage (price out a panoramic sunroof) and more. My wife's car has a $1200 sunroof on it.
I used to carry the maximum deductible on my comprehensive insurance, $2500. Then I got $4000 in hail damage, insurance paid $1500. Lesson learned.

I once hit a deer in my Benz, comprehensive took care of that.
My friend never had an accident and her ten-year-old SUV was too expensive for full coverage. She thought it would be a great idea to change it to liability-only and now knows it was a bad idea because it got stolen. Comprehensive really isn't that much more than liability-only!

Deductible should really be about risk assessment and the cost difference per month. I have not had a claim in quite a long time. In my case / market going from a $1k deductible to $500 cost me $48 more per month between my two vehicles. Keeping it at $1k paid for itself in 10 months. It makes no sense to have a low deductible, I’m loosing money.

Yes, keep comprehensive coverage even on old liability only vehicles. It is usually not expensive and covers a lot of things. I had a big puppy rip the entire rear wiring harness out of a truck going after a chirping squirrel. Comprehensive covered it with deductible.
