Spray In Bed Liner
Hi, guys! I am exploring options for my future F150 and was wondering what are your thoughts on the spray in bedliner? Such as do you think its a good idea or not, and whether to go with the factory offering from Ford or go aftermarket.
I'm happy with the Ford spray in. I knew going in that it would add to my wait, but didn't want the hassle of having to get it done. I was already planning on swapping tires, getting a proper stereo system installed, ceramic....ect. I would do it again, but I have also heard nothing but good with the aftermarket/Linex sprays. I don't think you can go too far wrong either way. I also got the Husky bed mat to keep things from sliding around and be a little easier on my knees when I am crawling around in it.
The 2nd post in any "what liner should I get" thread is always..... what do you want the liner to do for you and how do you use your bed.
For example, do you crawl around on your knees in the truck be daily?
We honestly can't give you accurate advice of what you need to do without knowing how you intended on using the bed and or liner.
If you decide on a spray liner -it's typically suggested to get it done yourself after you take delivery. Most of them or not Ford liners but rather Ford drops it off at a liner shop for the work to be done.
I'm sure local shops you pay will be similar but there are a lot of posts indicating the liner that came with the Ford truck is not as good as the one the users paid for themselves -such as the floor thickness is very thin compared to others.

As part of my deal on my 2021 Limited Powerboost, I had the dealer throw in the sprayed in bed-liner. They just outsource it to the local LineX dealer, but I am very happy with the results. I also put down a rubber mat to keep things from rolling around.
The Ford one will be a competent one and you'll be satisfied ... but:
1. It will delay your order. That and the wheel well liners are the reason I'm still waiting for a vin on a 5/13 order. I know this because they told me.
2. You'll pay almost double for it than the thicker and far superior Line-X. There's a video on youtube where they pulled the entire liner out in mere minutes and the bed looked new. They don't prep the surface except to spray some binding agent on it. Pulling Line-x off of only a tailgate took longer than it did to remove the entire factory done liner.
3. The factory won't do a complete job in the tailgate hinge area, an area that gets abused when you push/pull out whatever you put anything in the bed.
I've since removed the wheel well and spray in liners from my order and I'm hoping to get a vin very soon.

A legitimate question!
I am not 100% sure I would get it, but I am considering it. I actually don't plan to haul too much heavy stuff in it, but thought it might protect just in case something were to fall over and scratch the sides. (I know, I know, it's a truck, I should expect it to get scratched if I use it as a truck). I do plan for sure to get a bed mat to keep stuff from sliding around too much, so the spray in may not be neccessary anyway. For me, once I get a tonneau on that truck it will basically be a car with a huge trunk, but I do want to protect it as sometimes I do tend to pile things up in a trunk. I am thinking maybe a couple of totes to put tools in. And during hunting season it might haul the occasional deer out of the pasture. (Maybe the spray in would work against me there with the blood that would be present). But like I say, I am at this point just kicking the idea around and I do realize that I could get it done later anyway.

Unless you're a tradesperson beating the crap outta the box daily with tool boxes, equipment etc, spray in bed liners are over kill and actually create a harsher surface for items in the truck.
There are so many truck owners who get the spray liner then install a mat over top...kinda defeats the purpose.
Given that most people also put tonneaus on their trucks, I go with a bed rug.
The bed rug is extremely durable, easy to install, looks amazing, keeps the inside box clean and dust free and cleans up very easily!!
I will never get a spray liner again!

I like the carpet but I'm constantly hauling clippings, branches, etc. to the dump. It's tough enough to get the last of it off of the spray on liner I have now on my Ram. I'm picturing things sticking far worse to the carpeted liner but I'm guessing. Have you hauled yard clippings or other things of that nature in your bed over the carpet?
The felt material has a good half inch of foam under neath it.
It sure is easy on the knees and keeps everything clean inside.
I pressure wash it about once a year and park it in the sun to dry.
Check out the bedrug website or speak to a bedrug dealer, they are far more durable than most realize.
