Default shorter tailgate cables

When towing my F150 Powerboost tailgate just touches the top of the trailer A frame when open. I really want to be able to open my tailgate but I don't want to leave a mark in the plastic area around the handle that is hitting the RV A frame.
one problem is the ball height on my trailer is like 25.5" because of the way the frame is built.with the ball up at top of frame (Jayco 21MML) I can't lower the ball height because trailer would be nose down in fact the way it is now the ball could still come up another 1".
If I had a set of cables that was 1" or shorter they would do the trick.
anybody dealt with this problem?
only need it for when I open the tailgate with trailer attached for bed access (instead of going over the side rail and scratching truck). access to stuff like cooler, plugging RV into built in generator) , etc, etc.

Would something like this work or does that make the tailgate too high?

I only wanted raise it enough so I would remain as close to flat is it could without hitting trailer hitch.
Thinking about this more I guess I could try 2 things.
make up new (shorter) cables for just when out with the RV.
maybe take a couple S hooks, and thread the current cable through the S which would shorten it a little. .

not sure how much adjustment they have in them, but you might look up a product called “gate king”. There straps that allow for different locking positions your tailgate. Not sure if they are what you might be looking for to solve your issue or not but something worth looking into.

Towing trailer nose down is preferable to towing nose up or even level.
