Dantana, do you have a laptop? FORScan is free program, or at most $20 per year for additional features (you can also get 2 months free at a time for these), and is extremely powerful tool. A $70 USB to OBD adapter like OBDLINK EX is all you’d need. Won’t help on non-Ford/Lincoln/Mazda vehicles though. It would allow you to easily read that code, reset it, even do things to the affected module that might allow you to fix it yourself with some help from very smart people here like rugedraw.

I got your message. I saw you were not able to add it to Ford app, but whatever you tried to do got the the truck to report itself to the cloud today. The code is:

PCM
|
P2888
:
00
:
ED
Park Lock/Pawl Actuator Circuit/Open

I have seen this on the forums before. If I remember correctly, it is a solenoid in the transmission that needs to be replaced, but you have to drop the pan to get to it.

yes, you remember correctly, shift solenoid, it was on a Powerboost so part number may be different…

thank you guys for the info.

but I had a quick question. My truck is running and driving fine. Is this something that I could do later or should it be checked out and repaired right away?

I'm not a technician. I can't answer that with intelligence. Maybe someone else can chime in.

I don’t know either. The OP in the post linked drove theirs for six months with that code and the shift solenoid problem that you probably have too. They had a powerboost, which is a bit different transmission (10R80MHT) than you have (10R80), so not exactly the same comparison. Did they do long term damage by doing so, IDK. I’m no transmission tech either. I would certainly heed the warning and get it fixed soonest, if you can. At 140K miles, you’re basically due (some would say way overdue) for a transmission service (drain and fluid plus filter replacement) which they’d be in there anyway to fix your likely problem, so hopefully they won’t charge you a bunch of extra money to also swap your filter while in there (5 extra minutes, tops). The ‘21 transmission has CDF drum issues too, so I hope you don’t end up throwing lots of good money at this transmission if other problems develop in future. Best of luck Dantana.
