Default Secure alert Feature Preview Ending

Got a message today from Ford thanking me for using Securealert preview. This feature was never billed as a preview but as a security enhancement. Nice how it just changes. Anyone else seeing this notice?

I have not received that message yet, but it won’t surprise me if/when I do. Ford will see all of these software capabilities as a new revenue streams to tap. Unfortunately, I think access to Ford Pass, and all of the capabilities it provides, could eventually go the subscription route. It will be similar to Blue Cruise, Alexa, Music Streaming, Nav, etc.

Maybe I’m wrong…. Have to wait and see.

I own a couple Kia vehicles and they do this. You get free use of the app for one year, it's not ALL the functions, but a good chunk of them. Then after that it's 100% pay as you go. There's still a couple things you can do within the app, but it's mostly making a couple settings changes. No functionality things like remote start, remote door lock, vehicle locator, etc.

Pretty sure every manufacturer aside from Ford and Tesla only give full access to their apps free for the first year of ownership. After that it is a paid subscription. This particular feature that Ford is doing away with though was never a "free preview", but it seems that is how they are marketing it now that they dont want to support it going forward.

If Ford is going to have the nerve to ask for a subscription for the service they better figure out how the make it work properly. SecureAlert right now is a big dumpster fire.

I got the notification on this too. Sounds like they are taking it away but not offering anything as far as subscription to reactivate it.

But as others have said, this SecurAlert feature has been a bit of a flaming pile of poo….

I just checked, and SecurAlert is no longer in the Ford Pass app. I haven’t looked at the Sync screens to see what they now say….

Yep; stopped working a couple days ago for me and lost the controls for it in the app, but still had the banner that said it was engaged on the app Home Screen until it went away earlier today. I have not received any message, either by email or app, about it however. Quite a while back they similarly took away the ‘journey’ feature, which showed you a map of where you had been, and rated your acceleration, cornering, and braking. Kind of strange this stuff comes and goes; I imagine they are measuring how many people interact with the various features how often, to decide what to bundle in connected services packages, and how much they can get away with charging for different features.

Makes it easier for the Dealer to tell you they are working hard on your warranty repairs when they have not even unlocked your truck!

Theyre doing the same thing w/ BlueCruise....3 years is included w/ the purchase of the truck - but after that it becomes a subscription service...what pisses me off is that NO ONE discloses that...AND it's listed as a Window Sticker item that is "included on this vehicle" (options) section.....I smell a class action!

FORD has a message regarding the securialert "feature" - as of May 8th 2023 its been removed from the app.
