Default Rough downshifts

Anyone ever get a fix for the rough downshifts on these transmissions? I have a ‘21 King Ranch Powerboost and randomly it has really harsh downshifts, maybe 25% of the time.

Yep, my ‘21 Lariat Powerboost does the same. So rough at times that I’ve thought I was hit by someone. It seems to mainly be between 3rd and 2nd gear that I’ve had the issue. My local dealership has been unhelpful, as usual.

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

Our 21' Platinum (3.5 Ecoboost w/ 8700 miles) has this issue more than I'd like to admit. Mostly on decel when having to drop our speed to ~20 mph then getting back on throttle; there's an audible *clank* every time. It also tends to be harsh when downshifting at freeway speeds when needing to pass, on a couple occasions pretty jarring. We've been trying to find ways to live with it, learning what the transmission likes and doesn't like which has helped to some degree, but it's still there. Every time we go to the dealership we just hear about how long of a wait it'll be to even be seen and they ultimately end up wanting to reset the adaptive learning parameters which doesn't seem to help as we've had it done twice.

Not sure if it was a coincidence but I noticed this with my 5.0l 2021 lariat and then I had it in for a recall on programming for the transmission, trailer brake controller and blue cruise update. i haven't noticed it since. So maybe a coincidence but I feel like maybe it had to do with the update on the transmission not going into limp.

The recall was called the powertrain control module software update - recall 22s15

Can you please assist me? I have been back to my dealership 2 times now for this issue, they wipe the transmission computer memory and it 'kinda' helps for like a week.

Almost every morning I drive to the stop sign at the end of my street it downshifts to a slamming halt from 3-4 gear.

Dealership says its 'the way these transmissions are'! I cannot believe this! I've had clients in my vehicle driving to see houses and they ask if my truck is OK!

Not to mention... I have a newborn on the way and I've been curious how this will go when the truck comes slamming to a halt.

Please please please help me out!

I am also curious about the whining noise that has gotten increasingly louder the more miles I put on the truck. I am currently at 9k miles. It is a ground/white noise whine very very noticeable 6-7-8 gear accelerating shifts and when downshifting though 4-3 gears. I used to drive in my car without music because I enjoyed it, now I cannot do that and it is quite annoying. Sounds like a bearing issue in the electronic transmission...

Upper glove box has a very annoying rattle noise as well. Unless the music is on, and the road is extra smooth, I hear it all the time. I now ride around with the upper glove box open because the rattling noise only happens when it is closed. I went to the dealership to fix this as well. they put anti-vibration tape on a small trim piece that is just under the passenger side american flag and it did not help at all. I was pretty dumfounded because I told them that it was coming from the upper glove box...

The tailgate applique from the factory was loose and not fully secured on the tailgate when I purchased the truck. They ordered a new one, installed it and pressed too hard when securing it, now there are two dents equal distance from when it was pressed on for installation. I am still waiting for a new applique from the dealership.

So far... I have wished for 9 months that I was back in my 2011 F150 Platinum. 80k later... still having these same issues. Ford has not successfully remedied anything except for the underbody insulators recall... which I don't feel is really done either. The truck still makes a clunky noise like a aluminum can hitting the ground when it goes from idle in electric mode to the engine turning on.

Rather disappointed in my 80k truck and feel like I just got a funky one? They can't all be like this.

Any help would be appreciated! I don't even feel comfortable selling this for a loss and letting someone else inherit these issues. I would be happy if the transmission was fixed even. That is my biggest concern.

My 2021 PB does the exact same thing, but it's infrequent. Sometimes feels like I've been rear-ended. Everything I've read states that's how these transmissions are.

21' SCREW Lariat with 5.0 engine - same thing. 5th-to-4th and 4th-to-3rd. Sounds like the trasnmission is shaddering into pieces when this happens. I hate it.

Chevy has basically the same 10 speed tranny in some Silverado's and they do downshift more smoothly. My '22 XLT is not overly harsh, just different than the Chevy I traded.

I have a 2021 King Ranch with the 3.5 and my transmission is just unbelievably smooth, the only gear change I ever notice is 3 shifting up to 4 ...it's not overly harsh or anything, it's just the only one I feel...anyone else notice something like this?
