Default The Right Rivets?

The outer skin of a quarter panel needs to be replaced on a 14th gen F-150 because of a big dent. The instructions for the 13th gen do not require SPR fasteners. Do you know if pop rivets are sufficient on model year 2021? Thank you for your advice!

My I would use the 3M bonding adhisive to replace a panel. Rivets would work as long as they are aluminum or stainless steel. Post a picture of the area that needs repaired. That will get you better answers

Default Replacing outer skin of quarter panel

Thank you. Amazon has the 3m adhesive 08115. There are youtube videos showing how to replace the quarter panel, and I already bought the replacement piece. The big question is about which model years require the self-piercing rivets instead of pop-rivets for the wheelhouse. I already purchased the approved Disco brand pop rivets to join the front of the bed to the quarter panel. Tried to upload the approved replacement procedure attached for the 13th generation but this forum did not accept the PDF for unknown reasons. Here is the link to the document as of 1/21/26: prolinesystems.net/files/Ford-Rivet-Chart-18450-3-.pdf

You could cruise junkyards for a whole replacement bed. A lot of totaled trucks out there with heavy front end damage but a near pristine bed.

Also in terms of rivets, solid rivets are preferable to blind rivets but you'd need access to both sides. Solid rivets also require significant skill and a few specialty tools to do properly.

Blind (aka Pop) rivets can work in some cases where the stresses are low enough and there are enough rivets used. You might need multiple offset rows in some places. (If the manual specifies that they are allowed, then you're in the clear.)
