So I hook up to my boat tonight to add a trailer to my new truck and

that worked fine, I put my truck in reverse to back the boat into the garage and every time I put my truck into reverse it says reverse brake assist not available. And it gives me 3 chimes and it drives me nuts. Anyone else have this problem does it go away after I back my boat up for a few ft?

 

Are you in trailer/tow mode? I think it disables the reverse brake assist. and good reason I had it in normal mode and disconnected the trailer wiring. slowly backed up and the truck would slam on the brakes thinking there was an object behind it that I was going to hit.

 

No I wasn’t in tow/haul, maybe I’ll try that.

 

I just turn the reverse brake assist OFF prior to hitching the trailer up. One less thing to throw a wrench in the mix when trying to get underway.

 

Happened to me as well. Really surprised me and took me a few minutes to figure out. I thought it was going to throw my boat off the trailer.
