Default request for someone with sync4 to try...

in my 19, I have a phone contact for a buddy in texas- "JC Allison" if I try voice operated calling and say "call JC Allison" it responds "call hodah-sey Allison- is that correct?"

anyone know if Microsoft put the english alphabet in sync4 or is this still a thing? minor thing, but jeez... hoping someone might try it, see if it still reads back spanish alphabet...

also, opinions on sync4's maps/routing vs sync3... i always use my phone because the truck had us run in a circle on a couple occasions, and never seems to take a logical route- really glad to see waze is now wireless, just a shame ford didnt build it in, and tell microsoft to pound salt

appreciate any info on what to expect,
Tim

I just made a contact in my phone JC Allison and it had no problem recognizing and speaking back "calling JC Allison"

As far as Maps, i only use Google maps. Integration is seamless

You do realize that Sync hasn't been a Microsoft product since vehicles went to Sync 3 right? Sync 3 and Sync 4 use the QNX operating system by Blackberry/RIM. Most likely your 19 needs an update...probably still on the original version of Sync 3 that it shipped with.

If you get the connected Nav, it uses live map data to lookup up POI. I use it more than Waze honestly.

thanks for the info guys- last time my 19 was in for the phaser reprogramming recall, they did update sync, but it still does it... I thought microsoft still had a hand in it- glad to hear otherwise. the 22 coming is supposed to have connected nav for 3 years or something... will see someday I guess thank you both for some quick insight, will give me more to read on while waiting LOL

Being Scottish, I am quite used to this and need to put on my American accent often when speaking to my truck!😂

I have something similar. My wife's name is spelled Åsa (the first A has a little circle over it, its Swedish). The truck says "A ring S A", saying "S" "A" as in the letters not the sound they make. I get a little chuckle every time I hear it.

just had to post a useless reply to myself... my 22 showed up today, yay...2 days ago I updated my 19 to sync 3.3... the 22 does read back "call J C Allison?" the 19, still "call hodah-say-Allison?"... sadly ol' JC passed away yesterday at 83, so i'll never hear that msg again... will sure miss the old guy really kinda ironic timing it seemed...

Anyways, the new sync is really nice. my 19 didnt have the 360 cameras or adaptive cruise/lane holding, cant wait to drive the new one- dealers prepping it today, picking it up tomorrow, the new interior is really beautiful...wasnt sure Id like the brown/black leather, but it looks/feels way better than expected from pictures...these darn trucks are some of the nicest 'cars' on the road too this ones another 3.5, the extra power over the 19's 3.5 should be pretty sweet too- love the way that 19 pulls
