Default Removing transponder

I'm new here, but I did search for this first. I have a 2024 XLT that has the large key fob. I don't use the key fob for anything but to have it in my pocket so the truck will start. It's huge, I would like to know if it's possible to remove the battery and transponder and put into a much smaller housing (buttons don't matter). OR if there is an after market small fob that could be programmed. Any suggestions?

I don't think of it as large, but other manufacturers fobs are smaller which goes to your point.

Nothing aftermarket looks any smaller, so I guess you're stuck with it.

Thanks. For me, I'm never stuck with anything. I will think outside the box, maybe even create a small 3d case to put the transponder and battery in, if that's possible. There are much smaller after market FOBs I just need to find one that can be programmed. This is just my first step in finding something that will work for me.

I suspect if the buttons don’t matter all you need to a method of securing the battery to the circuit board and a protective enclosure. Be curious on what you come up with.

That's what I'm thinking. I haven't taken the FOB apart yet, so I'm not sure if I can remove the transponder from the circuit board or not. If I have to keep the entire circuit board, it may not save me much space. But I don't know how large the CB is yet.

Someone around here at one point was going to try and 3d print a slimmer case for the fobs guts. Don't remember if the idea ever went anywhere though. I'll see if I can find the thread.

Found it.....

I hated carrying it around as well, I just buried mine and leave it in the truck all the time because I have the door keypad and the app, so I never need to use the fob anyway.

That's kinda what I'm doing.for now. I just have a bad habit of not locking it. I need to break that habit quickly.

Seems alot of work to 3D print a new case and that thread seems dead.

I would pull the board keep the batteries and put conformal coating on it to protect it.

Maybe buy a spare from ebay and try on it. The fob don't bother me to much but my wifes Rav4 has the lightest and smallest fob I have ever used. Feels like a toy. LOL

Some fairly knowledgeable guys show up at Costco periodically to create FOBs.
I would bet they have something universal, and blast them to brand, etc.
See if they can pick the tiniest?
