Hopefully Ford redesigned the door lock and latch mechanism on this new gen.

There will be lots of happy people that would probably forgive Ford and move on.

If anyone learns anything about this please pass it on. Hoping a tech gets to see a manual, parts guys when they can see schematics or someone knows someone who has inside knowledge.

 

You might PM pioneer74, he's a Ford body shop employee, he may be able to provide details.

Given the past door latch "issues", I would be surprised if it isn't new or heavily revised. The inside & outside handles are new, so maybe a good sign?

 

I haven't seen the latch itself, but the mounting holes on the inner panel are different and the actual handle will be completely different due to the holes in the outer panel.

 

Yeh.... the Frozen Door Latch issue took the luster off F-150 ownership for some/a number of 2015+ owners..... and Ford NEVER addressed the root cause nor released a sure-fire fix...... AZPLAT

 

What about door hold......did they ever fix that? My 2012 was horrible, always having to open it all way, middle detent was useless.
