Angry Recall Issue

Hi, I am just now new to the forum. Thanks for the welcome. Quick question. I just bought my truck and already there is a recall 22S71 on the wiper motors, indicating they could just suddenly "go out" . I called to schedule appt and was told to bring it in and they would SEE if I NEEDED replacement. Anyone else have this told to them? Seems to me, if it's their recall, under warranty, and it's a safety issue that they would just replace the motors. Do I tolerate this?

yes that is part of the recall, you check to see what the ID# is on the part, if it meets a certain criteria it is replaced, if not, you are good to go

Yep I had mine inspected and was told good to go. Many of these involve a specific time frame where a specific design of a part is used before it is updated either because the defect is caught or because they go to a different supplier.

I've talked with two different dealers about the wiper motor recall that is active on my truck. They tell me they can only order a new motor and close out the recall if the factory motor fails. So, if your wiper motor is one of the potentially bad motors, it will only be replaced when it fails. Gotta keep those new trucks coming off the line.

I probably wouldn't care so much, but I'd like to trade my 22 for something else and it's a tad bit harder to trade a vehicle that has an active safety recall.
