Default Rear Gear

In a 22 F150 4x2 super cab 3.55 locker do you get the larger gear housing(9.3/4) with the 3.5 over a 2.7, or is that only if you order the 3.7 locker ?
thanks guys

You will get the 9.75 when you have the 3.5 eco.I believe the only way to get the 9.75 with the 2.7 is with the payload package.I had a 2020 5.0 with the 7000 lb gvwr and it had the super 8.8. With 3.55.I have a 2022 with 3.5 eco non max tow and have the regualar 9.75 with 3.55 gears.

All 3.5EB get the 9.75 rear gear
2.7 EB pay load package with the 3.73 gearing gets the 9.75 rear gear.

The above info is correct. A 2.7PP will get a 9.75 semi-float rear end. Without the 2.7 Payload Package, a 2.7L will always get a Super 8.8 semi-float.

Any 5.0 with a 3.73 axle ratio will also get a 9.75 axle, either semi-float or 3/4-float.

All 3.5 Ecoboost (including PowerBoost) models, irregardless of ratio, get a 9.75 semi-float or 3/4-float.

I seem to recall all 3.0 models get the 9.75 semi-float. I don’t think they can get the 3/4-float, but I could be wrong.

3.3 always gets a Super 8.8.

Anything that does not get a 9.75 of either kind will get a semi-float Super 8.8.

Any model equipped with Max Tow (with or without HDPP) will get the 3/4-float irregardless of engine or axle ratio. Note that Max Tow is only available with the 3.5 Ecoboost (including Powerboost) and 5.0 V8. Max Tow provides 3.73 gears in the 5.0 and 3.55 in the 3.5 non-HDPP and non-Powerboost+4x4 models. Powerboost 4x4 and HDPP models (including 3.5 Ecoboost) always get the 3.73 axle ratio.

Any vehicle combination that specifies a 9.75 rear end without having Max Tow equipped gets the semi-float 9.75. If it does not specify 9.75 and does not have Max Tow, it will get the Super 8.8, which is always semi-float.

Nope. Read Steel City's post above, as it is very accurate as to what comes with which!
