Default Radar detector mount ideas

Does anyone have a clever way to mount a radar detector so it’s somewhat hidden or can be removed quickly? I made this bracket and the unit is attached with hook & loops. I’d prefer to have it less visible from the side and behind for obvious reasons. I put a hat over it or pull it and toss it in the console . Tempted to run wires and put it up high on the windshield but find the suction cup mounts don’t work great.

I have a blend mount which mounts it tight under the rear view mirror and I use a mirror tap for power. clean and easy to remove radar detector. amazon has less expensive version also that i use in my wifes f250 but it hangs down from the rear view mirror a bit.

Seriously? Why?

Using a radar detector in a privately owned passenger vehicle is legal in the U.S., with the exception of Virginia and Washington D.C. In Mass, even laser jammers are legal.

I also use a Blendmount and a wire tap.

[QUOTESeriously? Why?
[/QUOTE]

Because it feels like I’m throwing it in there face that I’m attempting to speed without getting caught. If I was a cop that would irritate me and I’d pull me over. LOL

Have a radar detector in your vehicle and get pulled over for speed, you are not getting a warning.

OP- Why do you have a stand alone Garmin unit when the truck has nav and your connected phone has nav? Just curious.

I bought the Garmin about a year ago for my previous truck. I take a major road trip annually and it’s just myself and my dog. That being said there’s no one helping navigate. I like having the back up to view alternative routes without having to attempt such while driving. I struggle with all the technology so try to make it less stressful.

Blendmount. https://blendmount.com/

Or these

There are also visor clip mounts.

Mirrortap is a great way to power these and super easy on the F-150 from the plug on the back of the mirror.

That looks like a V1, I have one in each vehicle, great radar detector. All three of them are hard-wired thru the rear-view mirror, and attached just left of it, using the suction cups. No problem with using suction cups, they work great. It's especially nice in the F-150, since it sits so high off the ground, it can detect radar a couple miles away, well before they detect you.

I wouldn't worry about police being irritated by one. Millions of people have one, I guarantee they aren't stopping you just because you have one. I haven't had a ticket in 20+ years, a combination due to smart driving and lots of luck (and the radar detector). Using Waze or G-Maps helps also.

I was stopped about 2-3 years ago, I was probably doing 40-ish in a 30 zone. Wasn't even paying attention to the detector, and had it muted. I was polite and courteous, and he was also. Gave me a verbal warning, and told me to slow down on this road.

I just took a 6,000 mile road trip, and it did its job. Notified me when radar was ahead. Again, police don't care that you have one.
