Default Question about auto-dimming mirrors

Good evening! I have a 2022 Tremor with only 1700ish miles on it. As of October 13th i had noticed that when i get in my truck early morning to go to work, my auto dimming mirrors are already dark(whether i remote start it or start normally does not matter), and they are staying dark without any lights on around me(my driveway and outside of my house are extremely dark when the sun is down; little to no outside/ambient lights). Additionally, they stay dark the whole drive, until i pass through a small neighborhood with street lights, causing them to momentarily brighten back up. They do not darken during the daytime...as is normal.

I don't recall this being a thing when i first got it, however the dealership is telling me they tested it and everything is functioning normally. They also said that that is supposed to happen. They are telling me the darkening will fluctuate based on lights, but that they will be dark to some degree at all times at night.

However, it is my understanding that they are only supposed to darken when there are bright headlights that would otherwise cause a glare for you while driving at night, but under normal circumstances they are not supposed to be dimming. Who is correct here? I feel as though it was not doing that when i first bought it(September 5) and that i am not crazy. I can barely see out of those two mirrors when they are dark without lights around me and it doesn't make sense to me that that would be normal operation. The owners manual online even says "The mirror dims to reduce the effect of bright light from behind. It returns to normal when the bright light from behind is no longer present or if you shift into reverse (R)"

I'm mostly just looking to make sure i'm not crazy here and to see if i should fight the dealership on this. Because this truck has been plagued with problems since i bought it and this is just another thing to add to the list if i'm correct.

Thanks in advance for reading and for any insight anyone may have, i'm new here and this is my first post!

How fast do you get when driving? Up to either 25 or 35, they stay dimmed. In my subdivision, I must turn on the high beam. Certainly at 35 and above, my truck will auto dim when lights approach, or I approach someone from the rear. If no one is present, they automatically switch to high beam.

I noticed that mine seemed inappropriately dark on occasion as well. I'm going to see if it "brightens" in reverse as you noted.

I really wish i had seen that tidbit in the manual before i handed it off to them. Unfortunately I haven't seen if it does it or not. Do yours seem dark at all times at night? Or just enough of the time to make you wonder?

So my auto high beams seem to work as advertised. A bit whacky sometimes with the choices it makes but they were nonetheless. On the highway, even doing 65+ they'll go bright if there is no one around. But my mirrors are just blacked out all the time. It's very bizarre.
