Default Programming 2022 Intelligent 5 Button Keyless Start Remote?

I purchased a replacement from AMZ and it doesn't work. My 2022 King Ranch Owner's Manual gives instructions to program additional keys using the Backup Slot in the console with 2 programmed remotes. I have done that and continue to see a message like Programming Failed.

As I look at many of these replacements, I am seeing more and more where they say the dealer or locksmith has to program. WTH Why does Ford make provisions for me to skip the dealer and locksmith and do it myself, and these vendors are selling keys that are LOCKED. Vendor pkg says, CRYPTO KEY: Locked.

Anybody found a replacement key that CAN be programmed as per OEM Procedure, using 2 programmed keys?

On a side note, I did see that when I entered my FCC ID# (That ends with 426) I get hits for Mustang fobs.

Same thing happened to me.

I actually prefer the gen 13 fobs, and always like to have 3 total fobs. So I got one, couldn’t program it. Tried many times.

I gave up and I’ll just have my dealer do it when I go in for my first oil change. They’ve done it for me for free in the past as long as I’m there doing something else at the same time.

Thanks DR,
I appreciate the suggestion, but do my own maintenance. I was wondering if Ford had found yet another way to help pay for EV's and decided to lock these fobs and start charging. Others have said the dealer charged $30. I think they piece-mealed these remotes during covid and did not report to this to the accessories market. My FCC ID is consistent with Mustangs, but has a blue oval on the back. I think they grabbed a bunch of mustang remotes and programmed them for our trucks so they could get them out the door. I think the first battery the put in my truck was for an Escape, because it won't hold a charge. No telling what else they did to get these out the door.
Thanks again
