Default Problem shifting from reverse to park

Has anyone else with the column shifter had an issue where the shift lever wont go into park? It seems to happen when I am trying to go from reverse to park. If I cycle the gears to drive and park it usually goes in, with a little pressure, but if I have been reversing and try to put it in park directly, it simply won't go. Seems to happen more often than not. It feels like there is some sort of lockout before going into park that doesn't disengage fully.

No, his issue was with the console shifter. I don't think he read your problem description entirely, It may still be the module for the column shifter, I would just take it to the dealer though.

Just curious, but if you shut the truck off, will it move itself there? I think it is supposed to do that on all trim levels. If it doesn't, would just be another symptom of the problem to give the dealer.

Well after messing with mine a bit I think I was just trying to move it too soon before fully pulling it back. If I am more deliberate about pulling it back before I start to move it from reverse to park it doesn't have a problem. I was used to doing it all in one motion, but that seems to keep the lockout engaged even after pulling back on the shifter.

Have found on the column shifter on a XLT that with too much pressure towards the driver things won't happen.

Just a up and down motion with slight pressure is preferable.
