Default Problem installing Husky Mud Flaps

Has anyone installed Husky Mud Flaps on a 2022 Platinum 4X4 BAP? I went to install them on the front and found this piece of plastic that's not mentioned in the instructions. Is it Platinum BAP only? I could probably just cut it but, I'm hesitant because I don't know it's purpose. Is it just because the BAP covers the seam between the fender and the body?

Same problem with other models. I first left off the plastic piece and thought it looked terrible. Then I trimmed the piece a bit, added 2 sided tape and popped it back into the center hole and it has stayed on for over a year with no problems.

Same issue with Ford brand. I just removed them as per instructions. Not very noticeable with the gray color so I don’t miss them.

I saw that the Weathertech had the cutout to accommodate the existing trim piece. Only reason I went with the Ford brand was I like how they stick out further to block a little more road grime from the tires. And the FordPass points made them too good to pass up.
