Default Price Protection Problem

Need some help y’all. My ‘22, ordered 1/25 has been shipped. The dealer is giving me the “You’ll get the CURRENT X Plan price (I’m eligible) and then a check later for the difference.” I know this is wrong, but the sales person is swearing up and down that this is the way it is. He said he can’t see the correct price in (I think) Vincent.

What do I need to tell the dealer so I get the right price? We’re talking $4000+ here, so even if I get the
money back the taxes will be brutal. Yes I have an order sheet (two actually, I made changes a few days after the original order) for the original MSRP.

From what I was told by Ford chat and read a few times here before, it’s up to the dealer. The legit ones will eat the difference until THEY get the check, other dealers who don’t care about customer service will charge you and then YOU’LL get the check later. My truck ordered 2/28 is arriving next week and I’m sure they’ll be telling me I’m stuck paying too

Thats what my dealer told me as well when I got my 2022 last fall. They told me it was because Xplan sales are different than regular sales and Ford decides how much the price protection will be. Anyway about two months later I got a check in the mail. Didnt receive any accounting with the check but the amount was enough to cover the price difference and any extra taxes I paid from not including the refund at delivery.

I thought that was the way it was done.. it varies, but this one is also acceptable. The dealership is a lot more careful for sure, making sure they get their money from the Ford factory.

I had something kinda similar, but it wasn’t for the full Xplan cost difference. It was for the difference of what Ford had increased the general cost of an F150 from the time I had ordered to the time I had picked it up. It was like $1500 or so. It was during that time when Ford was doing all those price hikes including that one one big one.

I fought with them on it, and assumed I would never see that money. They did ultimately give me a check months later, so I did get the money. Downside is (like you picked up on) is the bottom line cost of the truck was $1500 higher than what I planned on. I specifically only wanted to finance a certain amount of the truck cost, so I had to cough up that additional $1500 in my down payment that I had already all set aside.

If they would have told me it was going to be for the full Xplan cost difference, I would have walked.

Are you just about to receive a truck that you ordered almost a full year ago,
or am I missing something ?

I read your post a couple times and feel like I'm having a stroke...

I kept thinking '' that can't be right '' when I read your post.

Good luck with the new truck,
I love my '22.

A lot of us who ordered KR, Limited or Platinuns early in the ‘22 year are still waiting, or have recently just started trickling in. The dreaded “Chip hold” was 4-8 months for a lot of us

If I were you I would call or chat with Ford and ask them what to do in your situation. The nice thing about the chat is that you can email a copy of the transcript to yourself for record purposes.

When my truck came in my dealer tried to tell me that the price increased and they wanted to charge me more. I knew this was their MO, so I went in knowing that there was going to be some "arguing" about this. It was the "price" I had to pay since no other dealer was willing to budge off of MSRP when I ordered back in April of '22 and this dealer quoted me a few hundred more than invoice price.

Anyways before I went into pickup the truck I chatted with Ford and told them my dealer was telling me I had to pay more because of price increase. They told me that if they tried to do this to give their customer service number a call.
I then saved the chat transcript and went into the deal with the transcript should I need to play that card.

The biggest thing is to make sure you have a SIGNED copy of your vehicle purchase agreement. Once I pulled that out and told them I wasn't paying anymore than that, they backed down. I imagine that there are a number of unknowing purchasers who end up falling for this tactic and don't stand their ground and end up paying more.
