Can someone explain why the gate beeps twice and doesn’t go up? Then I have to press it again and the gate will go up?

Mine sometimes beeps three times when I try to lower it. The second time I push the button, it comes down. I suspect that's Ford's way of telling me that standing behind the truck while pushing that button might not be safe because the tailgate might come down. I put that in the same category as the horn honking twice when I get out of the truck with the engine running.

Just Ford protecting themselves from getting sued. Just like other manufactures too.

 

Exactly. Sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't. I pushed the button a week or so ago and the tailgate dopped like a rock, with no resistance. I couldn't tell you if it beeped or not when that happened.

 

Turn it off in the menu in the 12 inch screen.
