Default PowerBoost Reverse Tone

Anyone figure out how to stop this obnoxious tone when going in reverse? People look at me like I'm a clown when I'm in reverse.

If you're talking about a noise when backing up, or when going forward in hybrid mode at slow speeds, that's mandated by federal law. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/...-s-safety-rule

Hadn't seen a post mentioning this before.

I figured it was a mandate or a way for Ford to not accept liability if someone gets hit walking behind the truck.

It's so goofy sounding. Sounds like someone hitting a piano key.

I bet it will show a check engine light if unplugged. I assume it's some small little speaker under the hood.

We've owned a hybrid, or PHEV, since 2009. I can tell you that while parking, or driving slow in a parking lot, the average person is so clueless they will literally walk in front / back of your vehicle while playing with their phone, because they don't hear any noise. Now, they look up, see a vehicle, and wonder what the noise is. At some point, their small brains will realize that all hybrids / PHEVs / electric vehicles are making noise so that they, the idiot, don't get run over.

Yeah, I know OP said people look at him weird, but I think most people are aware of the backup/low speed tones on electric vehicles. The fact that they are looking is a positive, we should be happy for anything that causes people to be aware of what is happening around them. Even the best driver is still human and it's good that both parties be aware when a vehicle is backing up.

My golf cart wouldn’t run with reverse buzzer unplugged, so I drilled a hole in the diaphragm “piezo” speaker. Now, silent reversing.

I think it’s silly. I cannot hear a gas powered car backing up in a busy parking lot either. With all the cameras, sensors etc., backing over someone is nearly impossible. I said “nearly”.

I actually really like the feature. People are so oblivious to their surroundings in general so I'm just happy they notice me backing out now lol.
