Powerboost no start
This has been an intermittent issue for about 4 months now. First time, it was in the morning. Hopped in hit the button and warning lights came on including the big red stop truck safely now. Check engine, malfunction indicator and then the dash going into full accessory mode. Hit the start button again and the same warnings pop up.
The first time I got Roadside Assistance sending a tow truck which was about 3-4 hours out. About an hour or so later, I called my service writer a call to give him a heads up. During the call, I went to the truck to hit the start button to explain all the warnings and the dumb thing went "ready". So I decided to drive it to the dealership. They checked codes and downloaded a tsb fix. Back to normal and I get the truck back.
The sane thing happened two more times with the truck starting normally after waiting a couple of hours. It went to the dealer each time to check codes. The check engine light went off on its own after about 10 restarts.
Finally, Thursday night it did it again. Friday morning still wouldn't start. I was actually happy the dumb truck wouldn't start. Got the tow truck, found out how to bypass the park lock and off to the dealership. It got there and it wouldn't start while on the flatbed. The tech hopped in to connect his tablet and the dang thing started normally. So, after contacting Ford, the tech hotline decided the truck needs a hybrid drive unit. It doesn't sound cheap. It's the electric motor and a torque converter assembly. The trans has to come out to do the R&R.
Part is on the way. It'll be here Mondayish and then it's a full day on the heavy tech hoist. I sure hope it's the fix.
I'll update next week. Other than this issue, the truck has been everything I expected. Hoping it will be cured. It's not a good feeling wondering if it will go ready every time I get in to go. I don't want to lemon-law the truck.

Sounds like the unit between the engine and the 10 speed.... See it in this thread. https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thre...ler-event.301/
So the truck is finally back in the garage. Am I thrilled? Not really. Why? Because nothing was obviously broken and this repair was the best idea/guess to fix it. An expensive fix, for sure. The warranty bill was over $6,800. Imagine what it would have been as a customer pay. The dealership and techs involved "lost money" because the truck tied up a hoist for a week. Ford hasn't created a tool to pull the motor off the transmission. The dealer had to basically build a jig to hold the trans vertically and then a combination of cherry picker and come-along to pull the motor apart/off the trans.
Anyway, it's back. I'm still going to have a concern every time I hit the start button wondering if it will go "ready"....
If there was plenty of inventory (loaded Platinum, Limited or King Ranch trucks with non-powerboost engines) I'd probably be swapping. I'll wait to get through the holidays and then decide what to do. Assuming it doesn't strand me again.
If Ram had a better gas engine, I'd probably go back to a 1500 Limited 4X4.

My PB wouldn’t start one morning two weeks after I brought it home. Applied smart battery charger for about an hour and it started but I still took it to the dealer.
They replaced the 12 v battery with a new Motorcraft.

Decided I might as well give it a run today. Put about 300 miles on it today. Started fine. Now I have to go through the trans learning all over again. So far so good, I guess.
This is a reminder about avoiding the first model year of any vehicle. Although there are countless hours of miles and testing it doesn't account for the mass production of the truck and parts that go into it.
As good as Toyota is for reliability the new Tundra more than likely still have teething problems. However the new Tundra isn't that new, which is how Toyota maintains it's great reliability. The new Powerboost is all new technology for Ford, they have never done anything like this before. Toyota, on the other hand, is using the turbo engine out of the Lexus that they've been using for a few years. This allowed them to work the bugs out in a low volume vehicle. And the hybrid technology is no different than what they've been doing in the Prius for 20 years. It's nothing nearly as technically advanced and complicated as Ford.

Any more issues? I just had this happen to my 2022 pb. It was -5 degrees. Left me stranded
