Default Power Running Boards - Winter

My first truck and it has power boards. For those with power boards from previous years I'm wondering what people recommend for winter. Do you continue to use or lock them out for the cold months where snow and ice is prevalent. I have given the hinges a liberal spray with lithium grease and so far they have been good. Just curious others practice in winter. Thanks.

The new power running boards have resolved the issues that almost all previous early versions suffered.

This is my second truck with them, previous was my 2019. I haven’t had issues with either in winter or otherwise. Whenever I was the truck I spray the moving parts with some silicone, just as a preventative. But otherwise just use them like normal. Kick off any heavy snow/ice that accumulates to not stress the motors, but they are made to be just used and service free. Anything you can do though is just a little extra insurance.

Mine started getting slow around 45K miles and stopped working completely around 60k. I ended up forcing them down and unplugging the motors so they wouldn't get stuck up or one up and one down. I live in New Hampshire and do a lot of winter driving with snowmobiling.

On my 2018 they started slowing and failing also around 35K and 3 winters. I then sprayed every joint possible with penetrating lube and then super lube, dripping wet. They came back to life and were fine until I traded it at 42K.
