Default Power deployable running boards

Does anyone think the power deployable running boards are a little loud?

It never has bothered me, and I have had it on two different trucks. One is a bit louder than the other though.

I don't think they are on my 2019, but in a video TFL did not long ago, Andre was in a 2021 Platinum (or Limited, it was one of the two), and maybe it was the camera work or something but the sound when they deployed was incredibly loud. Not sure if they reworked the motor and the thing is powerful enough to act as a jack system for the truck now or what, but at least on that video it stood out in a big way. Will just have to wait and see I guess when I finally get my '21 if they really are louder. I hit mine with Silicone spray every so often which may help a bit too.

I have found that they are some what louder inside the truck than my 2018.

I've had power boards on a number of trucks. I can't say there's much difference in any of them. I can always hear them retract which is a good thing. The Ram trucks have a quirk that if you hit the starter button just as they begin to retract, they stay deployed. Then they don't retract until you're a ways down the road. Not a good thing if you are turning close to a curb or something and a deployed step hits it.
So, I want to be able to hear them.

I bought AMP Powersteps for my 2018 and I think I only spent around $1100 for them from a vendor on this site. I still haven't heard back from Amp to know if they will function on the new model.

Loved them. Nice wide step and was low enough that it was easy in and out of the truck. My wife is short, so she appreciated them. They were a little noisy, but that didn't bother me.

I took them off my Lariat before Carvana picked it up. If I can't use them, there's always Craigslist.

thanks for the info. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna get a set when they come available. Loud isn’t a big deal. It’s brief I guess. The current boards aren’t that great at all, XLT. Short and pretty much right at level of the truck anyway? I only know the previous generation power boards and look forward to getting the same aftermarket.
