Default Power boost towing.

I’m on my second F150 Limited and do a lot of towing, between 5 & 10k Lbs in the mountains. They stopped making the limited so I’m looking at the new platinum Plus, but it only comes with the Power boost Hybrid. The problem is I will loose 2k towing capacity. Does anyone have any experience towing with this setup?

If you do a lot of towing in the 8-10k range……get an
f250

It’s beyond the capabilities of the Powerboost, especially a loaded model

Agreed. One might actually get better towing fuel economy with a 7.3L gasoline engine. Plus, the 50-gallon tank is a huge help.

I occasionally tow a 11-12.5k trailer with Bobcat excavator on it. I have a 22 Limited with Powerboost and it does really good towing. I can also say I have a 24 Ram Limited Longhorn dually with the HO diesel. It also does very well towing the excavator. While the Ram is better the Ford is perfectly fine pulling. Both get about the same MPG when towing the excavator around 12mpg.

PS if I was going to drag race the two trucks I have against each other with the same trailer weight I am talking about I would take the F150. It is a rocket ship accelerating the trailer vs the Ram.

You might push the payload rating but it will handle it just fine. I tow a 32 foot bunkhouse TT with my Powerboost and it does great. Run anywhere from 4000 to 8000 feet of elevation. Make 8-10 MPG towing which is all you can hope for towing something with the aerodynamics of a billboard. The extra weight of the PB makes them more stable while towing.

The question would be do you tow enough that it is worth the compromises of a HD pickup in every day life to gain the capability?

50 gallon tank only happens with 8ft bed, otherwise it's 34 gallons..

Ram Cummins is typically solid, but will never feel as sporty as the Powerstroke.

the PB torque is pretty darned impressive.
