Default Platinum vs King Ranch Interior

I got confirmation yesterday that, like many others, some of the options have been deleted from my Platinum order (order placed 2/25/22, but not scheduled yet). The thing I am most disappointed in is the removal of the Carmelo interior. So if I proceed with my order, I will end up with the black interior. Other than cancelling the order completely, I may have the option to change to a King Ranch and get the brown interior. Problem is, I don't have any 21/22 King Ranch trucks, or even 21/22 Platinum trucks, near me that I can compare the interiors in person. I'm not sure if I would really like the brown any better than the black. And I'm not sure how the different leathers feels - does one feel better than the other? I know a lot of this is subjective, but I would love to hear from folks who have actually seen and sat in both models. And does the black leather in the Platinum get uncomfortably hot when sitting in the sun? Any opinions? Thanks!

I too had originally ordered a platinum with the carmelo interior. When it was lagging on progressing I switched to a king ranch that was in the shipping stsge to an auto nation dealership. i love the brown kr interior and to me the seats are identical in shape and comfort to platinum black leather. I too am not a fan of all black interiors.

Thanks! Good to hear they are similar in comfort. While I would prefer the carmelo over the black, I'm still not completely sure I would like the brown interior of the KR over the black. It's a lot of brown. It would be so much better if the dealers had trucks to look at. I sure do miss the good old days.

There is a lot of brown on a KR interior. It takes a bit to get used to if you are coming from a black interior truck, but overall it’s still a whole lot better than black. My guess is you won’t be disappointed if you go with the KR. Also the brown leather gets hot as well but more likely not the same as black. I use a full window set of weatherteck window shades in the truck to keep the heat out as well.

Yeah, that might grow on me. It does look pretty good, although my wife just said she is not thrilled with it. I sure wish they didn’t take the Carmelo away.

Obviously the dash and doors are brown on the King Ranch. The King Ranch has better leather than any other Ford truck. The interior smells like a baseball glove.

I agree on the quality of the leather and the smell. I was unable to see a KR interior in person and the java colored carpet was a plus. The carmelo interior is sharp but still a lot of black with the black carpet.

I had a 19 KR and loved the seats. Was going to get a 22 KR but the seats to me did not feel like my 19, they felt more like my 15 Lariat. So I jumped up to a Platinum as the seats felt more like my 19 KR. I got the black seats, was thinking about the Carmelo but when I saw one in person glad I went black, too much orange for me.
