Default Panic Alarm Problem - Help!

Have a 21 Crew cab XLT with the Max Trailer Tow Pkg and the Heavy Duty Payload Pkg. I’m in the middle of a move for my kid from Miami, FL to Wilmington, NC. On Tuesday I picked up a 6x12 Uhaul trailer (it actually has brakes too), and hooked it up to the truck.

Since Tuesday afternoon, after using the remote to lock the vehicle, the horn starts blowing randomly for no rhyme or reason...as if I’ve pressed the red panic button on the remote (but I’m not pressing that button)! Then to silence it, I do press the red button on the remote. Then maybe 10 or 20 or 30 minutes later, it goes off again! WTF!?!?!? And the remote is not in my pocket, but rather just sitting on the nightstand, or on the bed, or on a tabletop....IOW, it’s not being touched or moved. And nobody’s touching the truck either.

Note: Tuesday, Wednesday, & tonight we have been/are staying in low budget motels with doors that open to the outside world, to keep a close eye on the truck & trailer, so this is very annoying, and of course puzzling.

Anybody have any idea what’s going on here?

Yeah, this has been posted a few times. The truck has an alarm to detect if someone tries to detach the trailer and sets off the alarm. It seems it has some trouble with certain trailers, may have something to do with trailer wiring, no one is entirely sure. If it's bothering you, the simple solution is to disconnect the power/brake connection for the trailer, lock the truck, then remember to reconnect it before you next go somewhere. Not something you may have to do if just running into a rest stop, but when staying overnight may as well.

It's a good idea, but it has some bugs.

unplug the trailer from the truck when stoped should stop the alarm because the truck does not know its pulling the trailer.
I guess I should have fully read the reply says the same thing.

Thank you so much. Just walked out and disconnected the Uhaul wiring from the 5-pin adapter, and the alarm DID NOT go off! Then pulled out the Ford 5-pin adapter, and the alarm also did not go off! Go figure.

Now the challenge is remembering to reconnect the wiring before you tow!

I like to leave something on my driver seat to remind me not to forget stuff. Such as I'll leave an empty sports water bottle, or the bottle cap, on my seat to remind me to get the refrigerated bottle from the fridge before I leave for a bike ride.

You can find something that reminds you of towing that you can see when you enter the truck.
For luck remembering, you should pick up a rabbits foot at a gas station. Rabbits foot has toes, toes will remind you of towing.
You'll thank me later.
