Default Non-chipped key.

I have a magnetic thing that hides keys and I also have a spare key I'd like to put in the box and hide it somewhere on my F-150. Obviously, it is not smart to leave a key that can start the car, but I am planning to put in an unchipped key just in case the keypad does not work, which may happen when the car goes into deep sleep.

It seems every single key machine is insisting that I get it chipped and that I involved a locksmith or key programmer, and that it’s going to be over $200.

How the hell can I get a damn copy WITHOUT the chip? This is the only one I have and I want to make a few copies. None of the key machines will do it for me. Is there a way to trick it?

Call a locksmith. I had to have a blank made for my Jeep WJ because when I bought it, there were no keys. The locksmith had to make a blank to work the ignition so he could access the immobilizer (still not exactly sure why he couldn't just use the new, unprogrammed key he was about to make for me). That key blank cost me $50.

Didn't you get one of those metal keys in your glovebox to lock your center console and glovebox with?

That is exactly what I want to copy. It also opens the door and also the spare tire. I don't want it chipped or anything since I do not want it to start the car.

Yes, but I do not want the chip. It seems the key machine at Home Depot is pushing the chipped version on me which I do not want. I just want that key copied since I will be only opening the doors with it, not starting it.

I was hoping I'd have a machine make it for me.. there's a lot of them around, but all of them are trying to push the chipped version on me. I was hoping there'd be a trick or something to get around that.

What did your local locksmith say? If it’s a bench copy it shouldn’t cost much.

The local one wants $115. I don't think so, bub.
