New to the community but not forums. I have spent days scouring the internet to find out if I messed up or not.

Truck is a 24 f150 with 5.0l, I had my local shop install a true dual style cat back exhaust with some BORLA - S type mufflers on each pipe.

Now for the question, The shop went 2 1/2" back from each header, to the muffler and out to the bumper. Should I have told them to go with 3" back or am I good with 2 1/2" from each side?

I am VERY new to gas vehicles, have driven ram Cummins since I started driving and just last year made the swap over to a ford gasser with all the improvements and capabilities.

I don’t modify or tune my vehicles, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I think that you’re just fine with 2.5”.

Thank you!!!! I only did it for better sound. I can’t STAND super quiet vehicles. It’s not overly loud either so that helps. And thank you again

It should be at least the same size as the rest of the exhaust, or you are creating a bottle-neck for the exhaust coming out. You get the sound, but lose performance. If the exhaust is 3" from the header back and it gets reduced to 2.5" at any point, you now have a 2.5" exhaust.

Not quite. If he had single exhaust and went to dual, there should be even less restriction unless the original was greater than 3.5”.

True. Guess it depends on what was there before.
