a couple of days ago my highbeam lights started working differently. I also noticed a new indicator on the dash I never noticed before. Previously my highbeams would turn on automatically if there were no cars in front of me and off when an on coming car is detected and all I would see on the dash was the blue indicator symbol. Manually the highbeams worked normally as well. Pushing the lever forward turned them on and pushing it again turned them off with the same blue indicator. A couple of days ago I noticed a change. When I pushed the lever to turn on the highbeams they didnt turn on the first time and the white indicator symbol in the picture below lit up. I had to push the lever a second time to turn the highbeams on. I guess this new light indicates the auto highbeam function is turned on but it wasnt there before. I believe there is an Auto Highbeam setting in the vehicle settings but have never looked at it since the autohigh beams always worked. Does anyone know if this change has anything to do with that?
Auto light intensity is enabled by default while in the auto setting unless you turn off that function in the settings. If you manually turn on your high beams like you have in your photo, the auto aspect of it is disabled.
I would:
Check to make sure your light setting is in the Auto setting and also turn off your high beam if the blue icon is there. When in the auto setting the A light icon will be green.
what is the year make and model of your vehicle. I have a 2016 F-150 King Ranch that is doing just the opposite. I had the white icon with the A in it illuminated when my light switch was set to auto and the auto high beams option was check in the cluster drop down menu. Now even with all of that set up (so that auto high beams should come on and off automatically mine only turn on by pushing the turn signal stalk on the steering wheel forward. No AUTOMATIC “On” for my HIGH BEAMS.
