But the dealer put these dumbass wheels on the truck. It doesn't sound like they're willing to put the stocks back on, so what are the chances of finding someone interested in trading for these things if I end up with this truck?
Good luck. Have you searched Craigslist? I see day one zero mile wheels and tires all the time. Mostly for Jeeps but also trucks.
Did you ask the dealer who did the swap? They may still have the takeoffs at their shop.
Ah, good call on craigslist. Yeah, I asked the dealer about swapping back to the original wheels but they weren't interested. It might come up again when I actually go in to talk about the truck, this was just over the phone initially.
See if the dealer will tell you who did the swap. I saw a Jeep customizer that had dozens of takeoffs in the back of their shop in Oklahoma City. The shop will either sell them in sets or sell the whole lot to 3rd party tire/wheel stores. I was able to score 5 brand new Rubicon wheels and tires for $750 a few years ago. The TIRES were worth more than that! It's a crying shame the number of folks that will throw away perfectly good wheels and tires because they're not COOL enough.
So this ended up being a huge waste of time. I could tell the wheels were a red flag, but I had no idea how bad it was until I test drove the truck. There was a severe tire rub that was tearing up the back of the wheel well on the driver's side, the passenger side was rubbing but hadn't been torn up yet. They claimed there was a 2 inch lift, which they then said was just a 2 inch a level, and then when I looked it didn't look like they had added anything at all. I wish I had take pictures of this, it was a disaster.
So they come out with a $4999 additional charge for this "package" that consists of window tint, an invisible lift, and those wheels. I didn't even get a chance to find out how they came up with that price, because when I told them that the tires rubbing and tearing up a brand new truck needed to be addressed, the GM sat down in front of me and said he knew about the issue and it wasn't worth his time to fix. So that was the end of that trip to the dealer. They weren't willing to correct a glaring issue that they created, it was pretty obvious that they had no idea what they had done, and at that point I had lost any faith in them being able to do their job. It was a shame, the sales guy was nice enough, but I can imagine his hands were pretty much tied at that point.

I had the opposite situation. Dealer is finding me a truck. They sent a copy and I agreed to it then I realized that it has 20" painted black wheels. They will replace them with machined aluminum instead... waiting on final numbers right now.
