Trying to take advantage of a leftover new 2024. Narrowed it down to XLT 302A package. Can’t decide on powertrain. Going back and forth between 5.0 and powerboost. Liked both on test drive. Which direction should I go? I feel like V8 is the safer choice but do admit I like some of the features with the hybrid. Help me decide! I do keep my vehicles long term so reliability is biggest factor.

If reliability is key, I’d say the 3.5 non-hybrid is a great bet. Or the 2.7 if you’re not towing much.

You can't beat the Powerboost. I would not own a truck without that generator again.

Love it

I have thousands of miles on the current gen F150 rental trucks They usually had the V8. I own a 22 Powerboost. I can say if you like the rumble of the v8 then thats your choice but if you want even more power get the 3.5 or the Powerboost.

i have a 22 f150 powerboost, love it, average 30mpg and during warm weather months get over 700 miles range (mix city and highway no towing), haven't had any issues with engine or transmission.

If reliability is your biggest factor, get the 5.0. Nothing wrong with powerboost, but judging by the issues I’ve seen here, 5.0 is probably the more reliable option. More components more things to go wrong.

If reliability is paramount, the 2.7 wins. After that it’s ecoboost or 5.0 (anyone who posts otherwise is without facts). Just need to decide what you want. This generation of truck, the Powerboost is least reliable. However, I don’t know if that’s been addressed in the last coupe of years.
